Brazilian Farmers Follow the Agriculture Discussions in the United States

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is in the United States on his first official visit to the country. On Tuesday he is expected to meet American president Donald Trump. In the midst of visits and meetings, an agenda particularly interests Brazilian farmers and ranchers: the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Tereza Cristina’s.

Brazilian Farmers will follow closely the agenda of meetings and debates between the Brazilian and American authorities regarding agriculture.

The Minister will go through Washington DC and New York. The program includes a meeting with US Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue to discuss, among other issues, the resumption of beef trade.

He will also meet with the president of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Luis Alberto Moreno, and the American Chamber of Commerce. On Wednesday (20), in New York, the delegation will meet with the president of the Council of the Americas, Susan Segal, and with banks and private investors.

The US is Brazil’s third largest trade partner, after China and the European Union. In 2018, Brazilian agricultural exports to the US totaled US$ 6.8 billion, an increase of 1.35% from the previous year.
