The National Commission of Women in Agribusiness, an initiative of the Brazilian Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock (CNA), was created to increase women’s role in the CNA System and advocate for the agricultural sector as promoters of the country’s competitiveness and development.
Since its launching in 2022, the Commission’s representatives—coming from all Brazilian states—have devoted themselves to sharing experiences, accounts of overcoming obstacles, and successful stories that have become powerful tools for strengthening the Commission’s goals. The knowledge exchange has been crucial to expanding actions to promote agribusiness development and ensure the sector’s continuous and sustainable growth.
Sharing strategies aimed at legal certainty, reducing costs, and fostering the competitiveness of Brazilian agribusiness has been a priority for women working in the sector. These efforts have joined women’s organizations throughout Brazil. Currently, 21 state groups linked to the CNA System have been set up and are operational, playing a significant role as multipliers of this transformative mission.
In addition, women’s accuracy, organization, and resilience abilities have been essential in overcoming challenges in the countryside and in public policies. This is illustrated by the ongoing work to improve education in Brazil, with the active role of women in formulating and discussing the new National Education Plan—to be implemented over the next decade—to prepare future generations for the demands of modern agribusiness.
Thus, the women’s journey in Brazilian agribusiness seeks to change the sector, ensuring that it continues to be one of the pillars of Brazilian economic development. In search of more and better prospects, they show that their engagement is crucial to agribusiness’ growth, impacting positively rural communities and driving the country’s progress.
