In 2024, Brazilian fruit exports showed an impressive increase, reinforcing the country’s position as a major player in the global tropical fruit market. According to data from ABRAFRUTAS, Brazil exported over 1 million tons of fresh fruit, with the total worth of these exports reaching US$ 1.287 billion.
The most exported fruits include oranges, mangoes, melons, avocados, and grapes, all of which continue to be in high demand in international markets. Among these, mangoes saw the most significant increase in worth, with a 12.14% growth compared to the previous year. Oranges also performed strongly, while melons and grapes showed consistent growth.
Key Markets
Europe remains the largest destination for Brazilian fruit exports, with countries like the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Spain, and the United States leading the list. However, Asia, particularly China and Japan, has been increasing its demands, especially for fruits such as mangoes and oranges. The growing trend in the Asian market is driven by its expanding middle class and an increasing preference for healthy, fresh fruits.
Value-Added Products
Brazilian fruit exports are not limited to fresh produce. The export of value-added products such as fruit juices and pulps has also increased lately. These products are particularly popular in markets where shelf-life and convenience are highly valued, further adding to the increase of Brazil’s fruit export sector.
Outlook for the Sector
The robust performance of fruit exports in 2024 highlights the sector’s strength and growth opportunities. One expects that, with the continued focus on quality, sustainability, and production capacity, Brazil will maintain and expand its share in international markets. The country is likely to continue meeting the demand for fresh and tropical fruits, with an emphasis on increasing competitiveness and strengthening commercial partnerships around the world.
